IT DIDN’T QUITE have the entertainment value of the seven-goal thriller these two sides produced in their first encounter but that won’t matter to Kickhams Creggan as they emerged victorious in their AIB All-Ireland Club Junior Hurling Championship final replay today.
It was the Waterford side that started the brighter of the two though with Stephen Bennett forcing the umpires to raise the green flag after eight minutes; adding to his two goals from the first game.
Creggan stayed in the game throughout the opening period and, despite the best efforts of Kieran Bennett in midfield for Ballysaggart, the Antrim side ended the half just two points down, 1-5 to 0-6.
However, seven minutes into the second half Creggan were level thanks to Conor Small’s goal and they took a two point lead after Bennett was shown his second yellow of the game on 45 minutes, Conor McCann scoring a quick-fire double.

Though a Bennett free reduced Ballysaggart’s deficit to the minimum just minutes later, that was to be their last score of the game as Creggan rattled off three points in a row in the final seven minutes to record a 1-11 to 1-7 victory, despite Martin Johnson being sent off near the end.
